Prof. Paul Torgerson, head of the Section of Epidemiology, has received a substantial amount for the first stage of a new research project "Global Burden of Animal Diseases (GBAD)". His team is one partner in a consortium of 13 partners from the USA, UK, France, Australia, Canada, Belgium and Africa and the program is mainly funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The funding secured is for the initial 2 years, but the project is a long term project of 10 years and further tranches of funding will become available, subject to delivering the planned results. Congratulations!
The consortium has a dedicated website with more information on the project: https://animalhealthmetrics.org/
