Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Roger Stephan, Dean

The Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich is a primary university veterinary center in Europe. It encompasses 11 institutes and 4 clinical departments.

According to the motto: "Open to what comes" we offer students an attractive and future-oriented education, based on the concept of research-based teaching.

Our research not only concerns animal diseases. Protecting human health and the environment from animal pathogens and basic biomedical research into animal and humans disease are also an important aspect of veterinary medicine.

The Vetsuisse Faculty also operates the University Animal Hospital Zurich which includes all clinical facilities of the faculty. All departments of veterinary medicine, including treatment of special diseases and study of prevention measures are combined under a common roof.

My wish is that we all work together towards common goals in an atmosphere of mutual trust and mutual motivation: a well-founded and broad training of future specialists, the best possible care of our patients and the promotion of a healthy coexistence of humans and animals.
