Vetsuisse Faculty

Promotion of Young Talent, Mentoring

Programm für Nachwuchsförderung und Mentoring

The Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich has been successfully running the project since 2013. Until 2016, it was embedded within the University of Zurich's Equal Opportunities Action Plan 2013-16 under the name "Kids & Careers” and was financially supported by both the federal government and the University of Zurich.

The basic idea of the project is to promote and support the compatibility of career and private life. On the one hand, the project provides various activities to enable junior staff to approach their careers in a more strategic and goal-oriented manner, while on the other hand expanding the skills of people in executive roles with regards to life balance and leadership issues.

A Steering Committee consisting of employees of the Vetsuisse Faculty and a representative of the Equality and Diversity Department is responsible for organizing the project and its activities.

Mentoring Program for Students

The mentoring program for students aims to support students with regards to career-related questions and issues. The one-year program includes personal one-to-one support by a mentor to help assess and decide on the next critical career steps as well as various workshops on topics such as career planning, career anchors, developing potential or work-life balance issues. Third-year students can apply for admission to the mentoring program of the Vetsuisse Faculty Zurich and will receive all the necessary information at an information event at the beginning of the academic year.
Further information on the dates and the content of the workshops as well as on how to find and interact with mentors will be sent directly to the selected mentees.
