The arrangements for admission and the granting of places in the first year of study are governed by swissuniversities in consultation with the matriculation services of the universities involved.
Once you have successfully completed your first year of study you can switch places of study within Switzerland.
Assessments of academic achievement that you fail to pass at your university of origin must be completed at the new location.
You must send a written application, including your reason for switching place of study, to the study (study planning) office at your future place of study. The following criteria will be taken into account in the order given:
Switch to start in Fall Semester: the dean's office at the target place of study must receive the application by January 31
The decision on whether it is possible to switch place of study within Switzerland will be communicated to applicants as soon as possible. Given the limited number of places in each academic year, however, you may be accepted or rejected at short notice.

Note: At the University of Bern you must officially register by 15 February.
When places for the second to fifth years of study are allotted, applicants will be considered in accordance with the following criteria (in the order specified):
1. | Regularly enrolled students |
2. | Students who want to resume study after a year off who have a guaranteed place from the study (study planning) office. If you want to have a place guaranteed you must apply to the study office in writing before your year off. |
3. | Regular students at one Vetsuisse site who want to switch to the other Vetsuisse site (possible with effect from the start of the semester from the third semester onward). |
4. | Candidates who no longer have to complete the full course of study because they have completed university studies in another medical profession and have had their application processed definitively by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (BAG/FOPH). |
5. | Each site has a waiting list of students to whom points 3 and 4 apply. |
